New homes sales best since 2008, Taylor-Morrison tops 2015 sales

    homeforsaleNew homes sales ended 2015 with their best month since May 2008, according to Arizona State University housing expert Michael Orr.

    The Phoenix region saw $514 million in new home sales in December. That is up 55 percent from $331 million in December 2014.

    The median new home sale price was $298,104 in December down from $307,506 a year earlier.

    Peoria has the most new home closings for the month following by Mesa and Gilbert.
    Orr also crunched the numbers for which homebuilder had most sales in the Phoenix market last year. Scottsdale-based Taylor Morrison (NYSE: TMHC) was first.
    Here’s Orr’s homebuilder list for local 2015 revenue and sales:
    1. Taylor Morrison – $318M (891 units)
    2. Pulte Homes – $286M (936 units)
    3. Meritage Homes – $278M (836 units)
    4. CalAtlantic Homes – $247M (648 units)
    5. Lennar – $179M (551 units)
    6. Shea Homes – $178M (511 units)
    7. Toll Brothers – $177M (234 units)
    8. K Hovnanian – $172M (468 units)
    9. Richmond American – $163M (520 units)
    10. Maracay – $154M (420 units)
